Our Partners

The Mattel Children's Foundation leverages Mattel’s resources to support the well-being of children and families around the world through its Play it Forward initiatives which includes in-kind giving and volunteerism. At its core, the Mattel Children’s Foundation supports Mattel's overall mission of empowering the next generation to explore the wonder of childhood and reach their full potential. Mattel is a founding partner, generously providing birthday gifts for the children in the Happier Birthdays program.

The Aleph Institute is dedicated to assisting and caring for the wellbeing of members of specific populations that are isolated from the regular community: U.S. military personnel , prisoners, and people institutionalized or at risk of incarceration due to mental illness or addictions. Aleph addresses their religious, educational, and spiritual needs, advocates and lobbies for their civil and religious rights, and provides support to their families at home left to fend for themselves. The Aleph Institute is committed to criminal justice reform and recidivism reduction through preventive-education and faith-based rehabilitation programs, re-entry assistance, alternative sentencing guidance and counsel, and policy research and recommendations.

Hope House provides programs to strengthen families and, in particular, the relational bonds between children and their fathers imprisoned far from home. Their programs include father to child reading program, father to child summer camps and teleconferences. There are 50 children who participate in these programs, ranging in ages from toddlers to 18 years.

Place4Grace provides programs to restore families that have been impacted by the carceral system. The focus is on literacy programs, music and art summer camps for father and children, pre-release family rehabilitation, re-entry support for the newly released citizens and their families. Over 100 children, and 82 fathers have participated in the summer camps.

Mard Philanthropy funds active charity projects, provides pro bono legal, finance and marketing consulting for charities, and is an angel investor/ lender to, enterprises where their inventions can be used for charitable purposes, such as advances in medicine, or new technology that can be utilized in education.

Happier Birthdays brings joy, comfort and relief to children with incarcerated parents whose birthdays fall during a time of family crisis. Children are made to feel special and important on their big day, and receive a powerful reminder that they are in their parents’ hearts, even if they cannot be together in person. Meaningful connections and strong family bonds are enhanced by providing more opportunities for communication.

Children of incarcerated parents feel loved and experience strong family bonds, resulting in higher self esteem and happiness. Incarcerated parents are able to maintain meaningful family relationships, and dignity in their role as parent, to ease their re-entry into society, and to promote rehabilitation.
